For sportily ambitionierte drivers still the Rekord "sport" was presented. This special model developed with the OPEL Haustuner Irmscher in Remshalden. Also this special model was based on the Rekord in "GL" equipment, was available however only with the engine 2.2i and had a Irmscher Rundumverspoilerung, a sport exhaust system with oval final pipe, a set lower chassis with trace widenings, Irmscher Alufelgen in the format 6J x 14 and tires in the dimension 195/60 R 14 H, Irmscher Alufelgen, a Irmscher Lederlenkrad, sport instruments and the 5-Gang-Getriebe. However only few copies of this special model were manufactured.
