Hi,
Sorry for the English, but my Finnish is rather poor. I have an Astra G from 2001 and I have a returning problem with the airbag. Time to time the airbag light goes on and stays active. It happened a couple of time last winter, but after that they cleaned the connectors in a garage it was ok and I thought the problem is gone. Now I've left the car outside for a couple of days, when the temperature dropped and there were some snow and the light is ON again. Last times I had issues during the winter as well; I don't remember to the temperature though.
Does this sound familiar to somebody? I don't want to get back to the garage and get it cleared again and again. It maybe related to the connectors or to the temperature or something related. Any idea?
Thanks in advance,
// Tibor
Airbag light gets activated in cold weather?
Re: Airbag light gets activated in cold weather?
Not sure if astra does it but some cars get airbag light from low battery voltage. Measure your car's battery when engine is not running and the car has stood a while.

Re: Airbag light gets activated in cold weather?
As already written , low battery voltage does affect the airbag system. Low temperature affects the connectors... and the connection is poor. You can solder the wires together... color to color ... and take the connector away. Many people has done it.

Re: Airbag light gets activated in cold weather?
If it was almost a year a go when your airbag light has shown faults last time i recommend to go to garage and read the fault codes from the airbag again and repair the problem what is causing the fault. As referring to my own experience the most common places where there is problems are the wiring underneath the front seats as told previous posters. Moving the seats is usually causing the fault because the connector in the seat moves too and there is poor connection in it for a while. May also be caused low battery voltage but it usually needs to be so low that your car wont start by its own anymore.tibweb kirjoitti:Hi,

Without the error code you can only quess where the fault may be.
Re: Airbag light gets activated in cold weather?
Thanks for the answers.
When I started the car after leaving it outside for a while, the battery was definitely weak, but the car started in a couple of seconds for the first try (2-3sec). This shall be a normal condition and shall not result in such a things like this. It is really a design a problem.
I am not sure about the error code anymore, but what they did in the garage last time, they cleared it and they told that the error is not present so nothing needs to be done, but then it happened again during the same winter and now again.
I will check the code and may get it soldered as recommended here. It just look strange that this can happen and I like to keep connectors as connectors and not solder them. I am a kind of sure the problem is not present anymore, but I am not sure if the airbag is disabled or NOT.
Thanks again and happy new year....

Check the code. You can also put some new connectors there if you don't like to solder the wires together.
