ElmScan 5 Scan Tool ja Vectra '00 X25XE
Kaverilla oli tuommonen ElmScan 5 Scan Tool ja kokeilin sitä tuohon omaan Vectraan eikä onnistunut yhteys ainakaan ensi yrittämällä. Onko tuossa autossa edes OBD-II protokollaa eli voiko tuo laite toimia edes teoriassa?

edit: Samainen laite toimii -98 X20DTH Vectrassa, mutta ei minulla. Mikähän siinäkin on.

EOBD as it's known in Europe is equivalent to OBD2 in North America but wasn't mandatory in Europe until 2001 for petrol and 2004 for diesels.
GM Europe, ie Opel/Vauxhall, delayed compliance on petrol engined cars until the last minute. So, Vauxhall petrols are only EOBD/OBD2 compliant from Sept 2001 onwards, ie Z----- engines.
Earlier cars had an EOBD/OBD2 type of diagnostic socket but weren't compliant. The ECU of many of these earlier cars was internally compliant with EOBD/OBD2 but software only allows Tech2 interfaces.
