U tell that your car is carburator version not whit fuel injection if so filter must be near carburator. little plasticfilter between the fuel line. I tought that they never made astra carburator version and i have never soo 1.4l carburator engine are you sure that it isn´t one point injection.

Your car must be some kind of "aftermarket" installation, if you have carb. in it.

My knowledge tell's that all Astra modell's with all engine (petrol) variations came with the fuel injection, so that could explain the missing filter(or not?).

Other wise filter should be found right-next to the fueltank.

According to the Haynes manual for Opel Astra, the fuel filter is located in the carburettor fuel inlet pipe.
-Remove the fuel hose from the carburettor
-Carefully screw an M3 bolt approximately 5mm into the end of the filter and then withdraw the filter from the end of the pipe.

These instructions apply for the 14NV-engine in combination with Pierburg 2e3-caburettor type.

Older engines with carburettors have the filter inside the fuel pump. Check if there's a screw on top of the pump, if there is, take it open. Now you should see the filter. If you don't have a filer there, it might be that newer engines have it in a different place, or someone has replaced the pump with a cheaper one that doesn't have a filter.

The filter inside the pump is not the best filter possible, so you should get a better filter. Get one that fits in the fuel hose.

Remove the inlet fuelhose from the carburettor (where fuel enters the carburettor. It almost directly above the accelerator pump)
Use the M3 screw to remove old filter and then push new filter into the inlet pipe. You might have to buy the spre part before you remove the old filter as it is possible that the old filter will not seal properly if reused. And you dò not have to dismantle the carburettor more than removing the aircleaner box and removing the rubber inlet fuel hose.
But before you buy the new part you should check if you have the Pierburg 2E3- carburettor, and if so, do change also this filter. A new inline filter is no good if you have a clogged filter in your carburettor inlet pipe.
